Camino

The Camino de Santiago, or the Way of St James, is a strenuous and trying pilgrimage across hundreds of kilometres to Santiago de Compostela in the north west corner of Spain. Most walk from the French Pyrenees across the north, kitted out with the latest hiking gears and armed with walking sticks not much use in the cobbled streets of the towns and villages of Spain. A forest dweller we met at the pub walked from Germany ("In winter ", he added with a crazed look). I made my pilgrimage from Porto, on a four hour bus with a screaming restless child. It was strenuous and trying. They wouldn't give me a pilgrim stamp so I got the photo instead.
